Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) introduces updated guidelines for firms regarding the hiring of remote employees, enhancing flexibility.
Dubai: The Abu Dhabi Global Market has unveiled new regulations for employers concerning the recruitment of remote employees and the implementation of more adaptable working conditions, set to take effect on April 1.
The Registration Authority (RA) of ADGM has also addressed uncertainties surrounding employee rights, particularly for part-time workers, in its revision of the 2019 employment regulations.
“The RA has released the Employment Regulations 2024, which align with global trends in workplace practices and offer improved clarity for both employers and employees regarding their rights and responsibilities.”
Key modifications in the New Employment Regulations include:
· Revising the definition of ‘employee’ to facilitate the hiring of remote workers and promote flexible work arrangements.
· Addressing uncertainties related to employee rights, including those of part-time employees.
· Clarifying specific requirements for obtaining and revoking an employee’s work permit and visa.
· Expanding the obligations and responsibilities concerning discrimination and victimization in the workplace.

“The New Employment Regulations will replace the existing Employment Regulations 2019 and will come into effect on April 1, 2025, providing employers ample time to adjust their internal policies, employment contracts, and other employment-related matters in accordance with the new requirements,” stated ADGM.
