We are looking for a Manual QA Engineer with 3+ years of experience in functional testing of iOS and Android mobile applications . The candidate should have strong experience testing mobile application features end-to-end, identifying platform-specific issues, validating API/ backend integrations, managing test cases in TestRail , and ensuring a high-quality customer experience across different devices and OS versions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing of iOS and Android applications.
- Validate end-to-end customer journeys across both iOS and Android platforms .
- Test application functionality across different mobile devices, screen sizes, OS versions, and device configurations .
- Identify and validate iOS-specific and Android-specific behavior and defects .
- Create, maintain, review, and execute detailed test cases in TestRail .
- Perform API/backend validation for mobile application workflows.
- Validate API requests/responses, status codes, payloads, authentication, error handling, and data consistency.
- Verify complete Mobile App API Backend workflows.
- Perform testing for application installation, upgrade, uninstall, and fresh-install scenarios .
- Validate application behavior during background/foreground transitions, app kill/relaunch, and session restoration .
- Test application behavior under different network conditions , including Wi-Fi, mobile data, slow networks, network switching, and loss of connectivity.
- Validate push notifications , deep links, universal links/app links, and navigation from notifications.
- Test user authentication flows including login, logout, session expiry, OTP, password reset, and account management where applicable.
- Validate local application data, caching, session persistence, and synchronization with backend systems.
- Perform negative, boundary, edge-case, interruption, and exploratory testing .
- Validate error messages and graceful handling of backend/API failures.
- Capture and analyze application logs and network traffic to investigate defects.
- Log defects with clear steps to reproduce, expected result, actual result, device, OS version, app build, screenshots/videos, logs, severity, and priority .
- Retest resolved defects and perform appropriate regression testing.
- Participate in requirement reviews, sprint planning, grooming, release testing, and QAsign-off.
- Clearly communicate testing status, defects, blockers, risks, and release readiness.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of Manual QA/ Mobile QA experience .
- Strong hands-on experience testing native iOS and Android applications .
- Strong knowledge of mobile functional and regression testing .
- Experience testing applications across multiple iPhone/ iPad and Android device/ OS combinations .
- Hands-on experience with TestRail for test case management and execution.
- Experience with API/ Backend testing using Postman or similar tools.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, JSON, headers, authentication, and status codes .
- Experience debugging mobile application issues using application logs and network requests.
- Familiarity with Charles Proxy, Proxyman, or similar network debugging tools .
- Familiarity with Xcode logs/ iOS Console and Android ADB / Logcat .
- Understanding of mobile concepts including:
- App lifecycle
- Background/foreground behavior
- Push notifications
- Deep linking
- Permissions
- Network interruptions
- Session management
- App installation and upgrades
- Ability to differentiate between App/ UI, API, backend, data, and platform-specific issues .
- Strong knowledge of SDLC, STLC, defect lifecycle, and Agile/ Scrum .
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
Good to Have
- Experience with e-commerce mobile applications .
- Experience validating analytics/ events generated by mobile applications.
- Experience with Firebase tools such as Crashlytics .
- Understanding of App Store and Google Play release processes .
- Experience testing feature flags, A/B experiments, and remote configurations .
- Basic knowledge of mobile automation tools such as Appium, Maestro, or similar
- frameworks is an advantage.
